Scholarships for Mankon Students

MFSI is an organization open to sons, daughters and well wishers of Mankon that seek to encourage education through scholarship and academic support for the benefit of children from Mankon, Cameroon and ultimately, the world. These are further detailed in the purpose section of our bylaws. Our organization has as its main objectives to:
- Identify and provide scholarships to the academically strong but financially handicapped sons and daughters of Mankon. The organization has projected to have its first scholarship class with the start of the 2008/2009 academic year. The scholarship recipients will be enrolled into secondary institutions of learning in Cameroon. The board of directors will use a point system in evaluating scholarship applicants based on financial needs and academic portfolio. Our goal is to sponsor our recipients through the end of their first cycle education as long as they maintain academic eligibility. MFSI anticipates having a minimum of 10 recipients in each scholarship class.
- Establish, strengthen and foster the value of education. The organization will seek to offer grants to individuals who are interested in studying the Mankon village, the people, its culture and its ethnography. Individuals will have to write and submit a proposal that will be reviewed before any grants can be approved. The number of grants will be determined by the availability of funds.
- Establish and assist through lectures and conferences in educating members of the Mankon community, within and without, on the values of education. The organization will search for experts in different works of life and solicit their services in offering guest lectures and/or presentations. These presentations shall occur both within and outside of Cameroon and/or the USA.
- MFSI will also look to offer one time awards to essays on Mankon. Such awards will be made on a yearly basis depending on the quality of write ups received and the availability of funds.
